A note regarding wage laws

Submitted by an anonymous FACTNet reader

In some states, such as Michigan, the penalty for violation of wage and hour laws can be as much as double what was originally owed, depending of course on either what is the minimum wage, or the average salary of a person doing a specific job.

I believe the statute of limitiations is 3 years for most states for wage and hour claims filed with the state.

While some states require that a current or former employee come forward and file a "wage and hour" complaint, others like Illinois and Florida, possibly California, do not.

All that would be required is for people to send in letters asking each Dept of Labor to investigate each Scientology organization in each given state.

This also holds true at the Federal level, but someone would have to contact the Wage and Hour Division in DC for more detailed info on who to write to. I had a name of someone, but he is no longer there.
