    Default Christianity is a joke

As I occassionally watch events unfold on this discussion board, watching the back and forth bantering, the christian on christian battles that go on here unchecked, my beliefs that christianity is a rediculous belief system are ever enforced. The reality that even fellow christians cannot agree on biblical interpretation is not only evidence that the bible is a warped piece of work, but further evidence that it could not possibly be a work of an all knowing god, or even an inspired work.

The bible is nothing more than a very large, endlessly edited book, filled with fiction, fact and parable. Even christians cannot come to agreement on what is fact, what is fiction, and what is parable.

Christianity is no better than Islam with it's evidently intollerant views, not only of other religions, but of other "christian religions."

It would be humorous to witness were there not so many knuckleheads running around claiming that this is a christian nation, wanting to put "creation science" into the classrooms and god in government.

Will the real god please stand up?

Ha ha ha! Thank you for the joke. Refried Atheist dogma is always hilarious. Same ol' cliches and a redundant intolerance rant toward those who believe in God. You haven't grown in the spirit much. Have you? Still condeming, still same ol' your way or the highway.

Billions of Christians all have the common faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that through Him we shall receive everlasting life. What do you have to offer? Nothing and nothingness. Sorry, no buyers today.

Out of all of those billions of believing Christians there is only a handful of conmen, heretics, polygamists and racists claiming to be Christians. It ain't rocket science for Christians to know the difference. We don't claim them as Christians and are open for anyone to criticize. Just like atheists have their bad eggs.

This is a cult awareness site. Where people of all faith come to discuss what is cultic behavior which permeates everyone's life in one form or another. Atheism is not exempt from cultic mind control activity. Atheism is NOT the answer to cults.

But there will be discussions of minor doctrinal differences among people of faith just as we all have different physical characteristics, same with spiritual knowledge. But with your haughty intolerant attitude, you gloat when someone of a different belief than yours has a different opinion than another and proclaim a atheist propaganda point victory. As if Christians were supposed to be all of one mind like robots. That's what the atheism agenda is. But not Christianity.

Christianity is alive and well and growing in all of it's diversity. And Christians KNOW what cults are. As we are all here discussing and highlighting what cults are. Many are here to be a part of the solution to the problem of mind control cults through public awareness. Those brave people should be condoned, not condemned by you.

I believe you are smarter than you are pretending to be. You know what REAL CULTS are. Help us go after the cult defenders instead of continually poo pooing anyone who believes in God.

What are you doing to further cult awareness? Your continual Christian bashing is not helpful or productive to the noble cause of cult awareness.
Sorry, we won't turn our backs on our God and follow you and your beliefs. No sale.

"Billions of Christians all have the common faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that through Him we shall receive everlasting life." If that was simply it, why do I see all of the rediculous arguing amongst fellow christians over who had sex with who, whether rolling around on the flow spewing gibberish is valid or not, the list goes on and on.

"What do you have to offer?" I do not claim to offer anything. I just question all of the mysticism and supernatural beliefs that seem central to christianity. The embracing of the supernatural and the NEED to believe in mysticism to be a christian scares me a bit when you see the amount of energy being used by so-called mainstream christian groups to force their "creation science" into the public classroom and government.

"Out of all of those billions of believing Christians there is only a handful of conmen, heretics, polygamists and racists claiming to be Christians." But they too believe that "Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that through Him we shall receive everlasting life." So, I take it that truly believing in your heart of hearts that Jesus rose from the dead and died for your sins is not enough?

"This is a cult awareness site." Yes, it is. I believe that christianity is a cult. The things I see christians say on this site, as they argue amongst each other enforces that belief. "Atheism is NOT the answer to cults." Did someone claim that it was?

"But there will be discussions of minor doctrinal differences among people of faith . . . " Like whether or not eve had sex with satan, or whether or not tongues, (gibberish) is real, or how old the universe is?

"That's what the atheism agenda is." Although I have never encouraged someone to become atheist, certainly agnosticism is a worthy goal. Certainly, by definition, agnosticism encourages an open mind, much more so than believing that "the only way to heaven is but through me."

"Christianity is alive and well and growing in all of it's diversity." That excites me to no end. It also gives me great comfort in light of the fact that Islam can make the same claim. It's time to reveal ALL religion for what it is: a philosophy, not truth.

". . . . instead of continually poo pooing anyone who believes in God." If I truly believed that christianity is a cult, and that allowing christianity to guide those in government and public office was bad, would you try to muzzle me or reason with me? If it's the latter, I am all ears.

"What are you doing to further cult awareness?" I really don't care if someone chooses to be in a cult. For those that want out, I am waiting with open arms. For those that are in, and don't know it, step one is revealing these mainstream religions for what they are: simply philosophies. Step two is comparing philosophies. Step three is leading by example to show which philosophy is healthiest.

Step two is what goes on here, day after day. The more I witness it, the more I see that they are ALL way off.

I hope that people will witness these christian on christian battles and start to question the religion itself. My hope is that these groups continue to reveal themselves.

    This ludicrous statement of yours

    " I believe that christianity is a cult. "

proves that you are not someone that can be reasoned with and just best be ignored.

You're always for everyone that doesn't believe exactly like you do to examine their beliefs but you will never examine yours. Double standard.

You are here on a cult awareness site attempting to recruit new converts to your religion. You quote your guru Richard Dawkins as if that would tear us away from our living, loving God.

For now I quote Shakespeare concerning your intolerant diatribe. You are

..."but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
    Signifying nothing."

"You quote your guru Richard Dawkins as if that would tear us away from our living, loving God."

Here is your first opportunity to put your money where your mouth is. Please show me where I have ever quoted Richard Dawkins.

"You quote your guru Richard Dawkins as if that would tear us away from our living, loving God."

I am not trying to tear anyone away from anything. I hope you do not seem threatened so. I do, however, hope to help those confused by the christian on christian war that goes on here to explore the idea that christianity is obviously not the answer to the worlds problems as it claims to be.

I implore you NOT to put words in my mouth. Please direct me to the quote by Dawkins that I have used or admit that you wish I had.

    Bluewater,

I have some information that might just help you out with your frist post so things can be a little better understood about us Christians. We are not all the same, yet we all believe pretty much the same, but we all are growing at different rates so we do not have all knowledge or knowledge someone else has.

So here is the thing. Though there maybe many interpetations of a scripture passage, often times it might be what a believer is needing at the time is the way he or she might interpet it. Just like you reading shakespear might send tears to your eyes today, but tomorrow you might be cheering about it. God touches his people where they are at. He meets their needs where they are. He often even sends people to explain this to them. Wow God is good, because he often sends the support a believer needs.

And so my friend it is truly confusing looking at this board, but not everyone is in the same place spiritually as someone else, but they all are saved if they believe in Jesus Christ and will repent. It like going into a hospital and needing a cancer doctor today but next year you might need a heart specialist. You would not the cancer doctor to treat your heart unless he was a heart specialist to. So see people change churches and even denominations based on the spiritual need they have in their life at the time. And no one hates any group or even really disagree, we just sometimes lack understanding with each other, because we have not been there yet.

Wouldn't you like to be a part of something like that?? Or are you still saying I do not need a God. I do not need your religion or faith. Simply put you might be able to stand alone blue, but for how long, what will break you down. I pray you find God before you reach a place where you have to be broken to look up to Jesus.

"We are not all the same, yet we all believe pretty much the same, but we all are growing at different rates so . . . . " By the inter-xtian brawls I see going on here it is obvious that "believing that jc is the only son of god, blah blah blah" is not enough. And since it does not seem to be enough for so-called christians, it is also obvious to me based on these behaviors that they do not truly believe.

"He meets their needs where they are." Tell that to the kids dying of starvation in Darfur.

"He often even sends people to explain this to them." They are called missionaries. They did a great job with the native Americans.

"Wow God is good, because he often sends the support a believer needs." How convenient not to have to say he is bad when he doesn't.

" . . . but not everyone is in the same place spiritually as someone else, but they all are saved if they believe in Jesus Christ and will repent." The belief that people need saving is ludicrous.

"So see people change churches and even denominations based on the spiritual need they have in their life at the time." My hope is that one day people are taught that their "spiritual needs" can be met by looking within ones self. Wasn't it your pal Jesus, who was wise in a simple way, that said, "The kingdom of heaven is within you?"

"And no one hates any group or even really disagree, we just sometimes lack understanding with each other, because we have not been there yet." You obviously do not read much on this board or you have memory issues.

"Wouldn't you like to be a part of something like that??" Like what? Mysticism? The supernatural? No.

"Or are you still saying I do not need a God." I am not going to tell you what you do or do not need. No offense, but based on what I see you writing on the board I am not sure that you have found yourself yet. I hope that you do. I do not think that blindly embracing a religion or a mythical figure is always the best answer.

"Simply put you might be able to stand alone blue, but for how long, what will break you down." I am not alone, but thank you for caring.

"I pray you find God before you reach a place where you have to be broken to look up to Jesus." Oh, I have been broken before, but Jesus never came to mind. I have faced death and Jesus never came to mind.

I believe in personal responsibility and rest comfortable knowing that the only way I can truly be of help to others is if I take care of myself as well.

I am not trying to be hard on you. I do, however, judge the validity of someones belief system on results.

I wish you peace and comfort, Turtle.

Well thank you blue. And I am glad you see all my errors as well. You know why. Because you know I am just like everyone else, but with a belief in Jesus. Does anyone ever truly find themselves? Are people not constantly changing with the times? Or are we all robotic, if so we must be in a place that we are force to be robotic. and if that is the case that is not liberty. I serve a God that allows my mid life crisis. He been my great physician for over 32 years and He never failed me yet, but I have failed him over the years in record breaking performance. Most people are not a friend through thick and thin. Most people stab each other at one time or another. it is a choice whether we forgive them or not or whether we let them go, and sometimes we do both. God still blessed despite my faults. Despite my short comings. So see blue, I appreciate your honesty the most. See that is why I still type back to you. You are very blunt. And sometimes a bit to blunt, but guess what I still appreciate it. It gives me something to think about. And I go to my knees and seek God for his response through His word. You just respond back through philosphy and I still have to type back a response that might have more self at times then the Bible, why because I do not think you believe the Bible so it means little if any if I respond that way. Am I not correct.

I think that man wrote some very nice things in the bible. I just do not agree with it all.

I believe the Bible is the inspire word of God and even infallible. But I think when one interpets the Bible we must look at it historically as well as context of the passage.

Okay I am going to take your bait blue, but it better be kept in context of scripture. What passages do you enjoy in the Bible? Which one's are your favorite. I am a bit curious. We can share our favorites passages right?

"amen blue and if you dont beleive it why do you read it?"

Are you saying that I must BELIEVE that Jesus was the savior in order to appreciate the idea that "thou shalt not kill", or the universal truths that can be found in it? Aaron, I believe that the bible is a book, written by man that is a combination of parables, (stories that teach), history, (mostly in the old testament about the history of the Jews), and baloney, (that Jesus, a Jew, was actually the only son of god and that he died for our sins, that Adam and Eve are the first humans on the planet, etc).

I do not feel that it is necessary to believe the baloney in order to appreciate the history and parables.

The bible is absolutely not the only source for guidance available to man. My question to you would be, "Why have you not read The Prophet, by Khalil Ghibran?"

I think your answer to that question would be interesting and enlightening.

Turtle, see my response to Aaron for some background. As to your question about some of my favorite writings in the bible:

I like the idea that "The kingdom of heaven is within you." It is another person re-iterating the universal truth that peace and happiness can be found by learning to connect with that internal physician, your common sense, and taking responsibility for your life so that you may be of help to others.

I like "Don't pray in public like the hypocrites do, pray in private behind closed doors and your father will hear you." That is a re-interation of the universal truth that you should not till other people how to live, but that you should lead by example and do good works. It also says that, for those that believe in god, that god cares little for public displays of belief.

There are many good parables in the bible. It is, however not my favorite "spiritual" book. I love The Prophet, by Kalil Ghibran.

I believe that most of the good stuff is in the Old Testament and that there is some good in the new testament, the new testament is a combination of rehashing certain truths in the OT, (Jewish Bible), and works written to justify the creation of another religion.

There are many good things in the Koran as well and other religious books. All of them borrow things from the Jewish Bible.

You know why? Because the Jewish Bible, (as well as all of the other religious books), are written by man and contain universal truths that were known before the first books were even written.

    Man deserves much credit.

God is able to knock us all down and you are no exception to the rule. I seen the other night someone get knocked down by the light. I wonder how it happened, My hubby is impatiently waiting to hear if someone got saved.

I am glad you read the Bible maybe some day it will sink into your soul. turtle

"God is able to knock us all down and you are no exception to the rule."

I have been "knocked down by life" on more than one occassion and picked myself up by the boot straps.

You can attribute it to a mythical entity if you wish. I chose not to.
