Just came across this thread. Yes, everyone knows about Internet scams if they've been online for some time. Email spammers, 419 scams, shady marketing practices. I think it would be good here to give a short list of sites that aid in educating consumers to current scams:

I am getting sick and tired of these spammers like Amy001 who post TV and movie reviews here in this forum inappropriately. They must be active cult members or just trolls trying to cause trouble.

You need to pull 'THE GOVERNOR'. She is a cult leader who spams all over the internet. Factnet is the last place she should post. She goes way back to the last board. She just changed her screen name.

She claims to be the Governor of The Global Church.

I have found WOT (web of trust) http://www.mywot.com/ very helpful in discerning the dangers of websites. I have even seen warnings on cult sites that the site is one of a cult even though this is now what WOT is for exactly.
