So Jesus had no self control aye?![]()
1Cr 7:7-9
7 Yet I wish that all men were even as I myself am. However, each man has his own gift from God, one in this manner, and another in that.
8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I.
9 But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion. (NASB)

and just how many years after Jesus was killed were the gospels written? Hmmmm?
but yes the "Bride" of Christ could be considered his parishioners/disciples
Nope...I was wrong... In the coptic language of the early egyptian Xtians the word used means "wife". Period.
I been wanting to boast a little in the power of God. Has anyone realized Scientology has admitted to using mind control and is no longer going to be doing according to the news that reported what Tom Cruise declared. Now is that God work or the devils. God's I think.
But it would have been translated from Greek, were it legit. The bible makes it abundantly clear that the bride of Christ is his church. Plus, the papyrus hasn't even been tested to verify the age. How convenient. Someone comes to this historian with a tiny scrap of Papyrus and asks her to interpret it.In the coptic language of the early egyptian Xtians the word used means "wife". Period.
NY Times: "When Karen L. King, a historian of early Christianity, announced this week that she had identified a fragment of ancient Coptic text in which Jesus utters the words “my wife,” she said she was making the finding public — despite many unresolved questions — so that her academic colleagues could weigh in.
And weigh in, they have. A few said that the papyrus must be a forgery. Others have questioned Dr. King’s interpretation of its meaning. Some have faulted her for publishing a paper on an item of unknown provenance. And many have criticized her decision to give the scrap of papyrus the attention-getting title “The Gospel of Jesus’s Wife,” as if it had equal weight to other, lengthier texts that are known as Gospels."

Stage yes I am still doing yahoo questions. That was one them question someone asked about the coptic piece of paper that speaks of Christ having a bride or wife not knowing the bride is the church. That is old news. However it seems that stuff comes out every few years. Interpretation is half the problem. However does Christ as a physical bride in the symbolic way as Christ is both spiritual, symbolic and physical manifested from the beginning and continuing. Most I think believe not. However that not the question on this thread.
In he so-called Gospel of Mary, Peter said to Mary “Sister we know that the Savior loved you more than the rest of woman,” and then Andrew and Peter confronted her asking her if Jesus spoke secretly to her things that he didn’t tell them. Mary was defended by Levi, saying that “if the Savior made her worthy, who are we to reject her,” and “”surely the Savior knew her very well. For this reason he loved her more than us.”
Mary responded, telling them that Jesus appeared to her in a vision and told her some things that she was about to relate. Unfortunately, what Jesus said to her is amongst the missing pages.
There are three sources for the Gospel of Mary. One is Papyrus Oxyrhynchus L 3525, written in Greek. Another is Papyrus Rylands 463, also written in Greek. The third is the Berlin Codex, a Coptic manuscript from the 5th century (or possibly late 4th century) written in Sahidic dialect of Coptic.
Jesus loved Mary (Magdelene?) above the other disciples, told her things he didn’t tell the others, knew her very well?

Sounds like a wife to me.
Of course, none of this has anything to do with a “higher power,” the subject of this thread. But who cares? Jesus the Christ is a religious myth created by those who invented Christianity.
Dodge God made known to Abraham the plight of Sodom and Gomorrah and the destruction coming. Jesus in John spake these words to his disciples. At what point other disciples were true believers is not always easy to determine. We know Peter believed Jesus was the Christ so did nathaniel before his death, but Thomas afterwards. Here is the verse before the crucifixion
John 15:15 KJV
(15) Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Those who were close relationship with Christ knew his business.
Actually.. the Gospel of Mary is not considered a part of the bible for a variety of reasons, but is one of the gnostic writings. Further, this Karen L King, who supposedly came across this amazing fragment from an unexpected source, is the author of The Gospel of Mary of Magdala: Jesus and the First Woman Apostle, and she has spent most of her career trying to validate this particular writing. There are three sources for the Gospel of Mary. Stage director, if mary magedeline is the the adultress woman that Christ said sin no more. Then she was saved by faith in God, and if saved by faith then she is part of the body of Chrsit which is the bride of Christ. So is she the bride of Christ will because she is part of the spiritual church yes. But physically the bride of Christ in the way humans take a husband and wife no.
