Hi Cowshut. Why should the U.S. Government “call out Federal troops” because a New Black Panther Party representative offered a reward for the “capture” of George Zimmerman? The United States government traditionally refrains from employing troops to enforce law except in cases of necessity, when local law enforcement is unable to contain a situation or the governor of a state requests assistance. Where’s the emergency? Where would the troops be sent, and for what reason?
The announcement by New Black Panther Party’s Mikhail Muhammad of the $10,000 reward for the citizen’s arrest of Zimmerman took place at a protest last Saturday. Seeing as how you don’t know anything about what the government is doing to protect Zimmerman, or what law enforcement agencies are doing about the NBPP call for 10,000 black men to go looking for him, your comments lack credibility.
Just so you know, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the New Black Panther Party is a “virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have encouraged violence against whites, Jews and law enforcement officers.” They are not associated with the original Black Panther Party of the 60s and 70s, which was a militant, but non-racist, left-wing organization. The principle founders of the Black Panthers reject the New Black Panther Party and say they hijacked the Panther name and symbol.
