No, trying to obey God's laws out of one's love for God is not legalism. That is God's will.

Trying to obey God's laws out of fear of God is legalism. That is not God's will.

The concept of virtue exists independent of religious faith only in the mind of an atheist.

The concept of the manifestation of virtue dependent upon our faith in God is burned deep within the soul of a Christian.

    nothing exists independant of faith.

the only thing that anyone knows for sure is that they exist.

everything else must be accepted on faith.

faith is the substance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (such as virtue)

    franklin,

It's legalism if the assurance of having
    everlasting life ...
is anyway based on your obedience to your god's laws. Sorry.

Trying to obey God's laws out of fear of God is legalism.

    As usual, your theology sucks.

What an ignorant thing to say. Didn't your basic education encompass some kind of an overview of philosophy at least? Where was that in grade school? Sociology class? And if not, aren't you ever embarrassed by the incredibly bigoted and ignorant statements that you make that even defy basic common sense, such as that last one?

The concept of the manifestation of virtue dependent upon our faith in God is burned deep within the soul of a Christian.

Right ... I've seen your virtue on display.

wel franklin, i hoe you've told your fellow christians this. as soem of them think ti is ok, to tell peopel their terrorist supports, and supported 9/11, because of our liberal politics. they then claim it is Gods judgement not their, thus wiping their consiences clear.

so i'd say faith may have much to do with it, but faith coupled with personal exploration, is better, people realising that insulting and abuseing others, is not virtuous, thsi development can helo them to cultivate virtue, caus e of your fellow christians are anything to judge by virtues like none agression, and none abuse, none nastiness, and non bullying. have clearly missed them altogether.
