Default [b]PLEASE

PLEASE BE AWARE: I originally posted this under the main forum for cults, using the title that " CULT WATCH GROUPS ARE A MIND-CONTROLLING CULT". When it was moved, I mistakenly assumed it was deleted. When the administrator informed me of my error, I said I felt it was wrong that it was buried. I felt I had a right as much as the next guy in a so called " free speech " forum to address this MOVEMENT as an actual cult in it's own discussion. So the ADMIN moved it here with a new title. However, to be clear, this title the ADMIN RE-INVENTED is not in the least representitive of my idea or belief. I do not believe anti-cultism is a cult. But RATHER, that the CULT WATCH groups that ENFORCE their ideals on others are a cult. Thats alot different. I myself am anti-cult, in my own views. I feel that the controlling of this thread and topic is an attempt by someone with an agenda to keep my belief either buried, or discredited. Even the title of this renamed thread " Anti-cultism is a cult" is enough to discredit my idea, and I think this is deliberate. IMHO. }

Anyone who disagree with them is a religious cult. Doesn't anyone see the danger here? They themselves are a cult!

2Ti 2:25 ... those that oppose themselves...

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap...

I am amazed by one thing. Since this is an open forum, and any may join and post... it means anyone can come in here and post a thread stating so and so is a cult, and suddenly so and so is listed as a cult, and it is published. What really is a cult? Is it anyone who believes they exclusively hold the truth? Is it anyone controlling?

I am reminded of the intolerance of this age of tolerance. In the office I work in, if a homosexual wants to kiss his lover goodbye in the morning, I am required to smile and pretend all is well. If people want to discuss the music of today ( which is mostly satanic ) in my presence, I am required to hush and tolerate it. But if I butt in, and quietly state to the homosexual that his behavior is offensive, or if I butt in and mention to the music fans my opinion that it is demonic, this is not tolerated, and I can be fired for bringing religion into the workplace.

Tolerance? yea right, they tolerate what they like. Period.

This cult hysteria reminds me of that. Anyone who is different than the orthodox thought becomes a cult, then later becomes a dangerous cult... eventually, the hysteria reaches a crescendo where even the orthodox churches become branded, since they might hold to an actual standard of living as doctrinally signifigant. They are suddenly branded as mind-controllers, spiritual abusers, and before you know it, the only movement with the right frame of thought is the anti-cult movement. Suddenly, all others become suspect, and the only way to avoid assault on one's life and church becomes to sell out and bow meekly at the throne of this new hysterical fanaticism! They become the only correct way of thought, and even seem to utilize mind-controlling tactics in that, if you are not for them, you are against them. This tends to make one want to agree easily with them, that they would not also be branded a cult.

Intimidation? Obsessive witch hunts? Is this Salem all over again? How many so called witches will you cult hunters burn before your own hunters are suddenly revealed as the new witches? It was when the demon possessed hysterical teen-agers who were having visions and " discerning " which Salem residents were next to be burned finally turned on their own leaders and inquisitors themselves calling them witches and calling for their death's, that the Salem Insanity finally became self-destructive.

2Ti 2:25 ... those that oppose themselves...

In their frantic blood-lust, the cult watchers will soon become the exclusionary cult, and the secular system they are nursing off of will turn on them, and destroy them.

2Ti 2:25 ... those that oppose themselves...

Please, I beg you, cult hunters, think about what you are doing as you search for Salam's witches... stop while you have time yet, before it is you at the stake burning.

Psa 7:15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch [which] he made. 16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

Rebecca Nurse
"Oh Lord, help me! It is false. I am clear. For my life now lies in your hands...."

Elizabeth Howe
"If it was the last moment I was to live,
God knows I am innocent..."

Margaret Jacobs
"... They told me if I would not confess I should be put down into the dungeon and would be hanged, but if I would confess I should save my life."

2Ti 2:25 ... those that oppose themselves...

Default Thank you

Thank you FACTNET staff for accomodating my kicking and yelling. Perhaps you are more tolerant than I thought regarding expression, since you obviously understood my concerns and reposted the thread as I requested. It has been reposted as " Cult Watch groups as Cults ", and I do appreciate it.

Are you blind? Look, even Billy Graham is listed as a cult! Cut and paste into your browser, this factnet link!

http://www.factnet.org/factnetcgi/discus/discus.cgi

BLIND MEN! Wake up! This is an agenda and you are pawns!

These people are coming against every religion and medical practice other than their own, and you are joining in their Roman Catholic style inquisition, and coming to attempt the murder of every religion and medicine not in compliance with your dogma... Look at some of the more normal folks listed as dangerous cults according to your new mommy and daddy:

Chiropractery
Acupuncture
Holistic Health
Buddhism
Islam
Judaism
Hinduism
Native American Spiritualism
Oneness Pentecostals
Every Church of God and Church of Christ you could think of

On and on ... my point simply is not to deride you, but to help you see that the direction this anti-cult hysteria is taking is to eventually attack religion altogether.

real truth:

your point is well taken.

Shopping at Bloomingdale's could be labeled as cultic, for that matter.

Anytime that a person's individual judgement and discernment are handed over without question to another is cultic behavior, and destructive.

Frankly, I find it disconcerting how often the Bible and Jesus are quoted on Factnet; it borders on active Christian proseletizing. I think the Factnet moderators are incredibly tolerant of some (pretty ridiculous spamming) posts, in the name of freedom of speech.

I do not belive this website is a Christian site devoted to exposing non-christian groups, so why justify everything by the Bible?

Documentation,documentation and more documentation.Otherwise,Gossip,gossip,gossip.

Documentation by at least three witnesses as to the cultic activity/mind control.
Maybe tapes from the cult,or books/booklets that prove cultic behaviour.

Deprogrammers are the worst of thsi lot. Tehy go ini and forcibly reconvert people from the religion tehy have chosen. Even though manyt of these religions are genuinely harmful, it's stillk coercive, and coercing people out of them is as much mind control as the cults themselves use.

Default I put this down on some other

I put this down on some other post but this is what a cult is, an organization for the conduct of ritual, magical, or other religious observances. Many so-called primitive tribes, for example, have ancestor cults, in which dead ancestors are considered divine and activities are organized to respect their memory and invoke their aid. A cult is also a religious group held together by a dominant, often charismatic individual, or by the worship of a divinity, an idol, or some other object.

I believe that the common understanding of "cult" has to do with manipulative, bait & switch techniques that cause isolation, and tremendous peer group pressure with thought stopping slogans, and the influence of a living (or dead) charismatic leader. This is basically what Singer was saying and what the BITE model expresses. But many threads have degenerated into calling anything a cult that offends their world view (especially those with the most fanatic religious or political views).
